The operation of electric buses in Miskolc has reached an important milestone: ten vehicles have already covered more than one million kilometers.

These Chinese-made electric buses of the BYD K9UD LF type went on sale in Miskolc in August 2022. In the name of efficiency, MVK Zrt. can charge the batteries once a night, so these vehicles can travel 240-250 km in the city per day. By the way, the passengers of the Borsod county seat can mostly meet the routes numbered 3A, 4, 5, 15, 21, 24, 29, 39.

These buses have a modern design and are comfortable, with USB charging sockets, a camera system, air conditioning and a separate place for wheelchair users. According to bus drivers, these vehicles are easy to drive and provide a comfortable working environment, and passengers also like them because they find them environmentally friendly and comfortable, and they are also happy about the USB chargers and the spacious interior.

According to the manager of MVK Zrt., the operation of electric buses is also financially beneficial and significantly reduces environmental pollution.

The company’s long-term plans include replacing all old diesel buses with modern, environmentally friendly vehicles. The goal is for Miskolc to develop sustainably and to improve the quality of life of the city’s residents by reducing emissions. In 2016, the vehicle fleet of the local transport company was rejuvenated with 75 compressed natural gas (CNG) vehicles, 10 e-buses in 2022, and 6 more CNG buses in 2023.

These buses have now reached the distance of one million kilometers in a total of 57,500 operating hours.
