Index – Interior – Expect to be closed for a few hours this week during the major cleaning of Budapest

The Public Cleaning Division of Budapesti Közművek FKF has informed the public that the following night-time public cleaning work will be carried out this week as part of the spring cleaning of Budapest’s public areas:

• April 22 – 26 (Monday – Friday): between 11:30 p.m. and 4:30 a.m., the Váralagút is washed with warm water, using environmentally friendly detergents, manually and mechanically, with the tunnel temporarily closed for a few hours. The works do not affect the night bus services, they run on the usual route and schedule.
• April 24 (Wednesday): From 23:30, the Zielinski bridge in Városliget is washed, and between 23:30 and 4:30, the Chain bridge is washed.
• April 25 (Thursday): from 23:30 to 04:30 the Szabadság bridge will be cleaned with a temporary closure of a few hours.

The works are part of the annual, pre-planned public cleaning tasks, which FKF carries out in the spring and autumn with environmentally friendly cleaning agents and high-pressure water technology on Budapest’s high-traffic bridges.

Budapesti Közművek asks motorists, and especially cyclists, to choose a different route to reach their destination instead of the Váralagút and Szabadság bridge during the indicated night periods, writes the FKF’s Public Cleanliness Division in its announcement.
