In the competition, the people from Kökútis won the 2nd place last year, but this year they put everyone behind them, and the “Cizmás kandúr” team: Luca Csonka Panna, Viktória Valcz and Anna Zámbó came home with a gold medal.

They were not the only ones who excelled at the ethnography competition

The letter revealed that the other two teams in the class also achieved good results: they took 5th and 7th place among those who entered from the region. As the opening ceremony of the competition, three Kökútis students sang folk songs from Magyarbőd: Zoé Molnár, Viktória Valcz and Adél Verszai-Franyik. As a condition for entering the spring finals, the entrants prepared a report on the topics of bread baking and milk processing. On the same topic, sayings and proverbs were collected and ethnographic knowledge was summarized and illustrated.

At the regional team competition on April 18, the students completed various tests about Hungarian folk games and famous days, where Anna Zámbó’s quick and accurate answers to the lightning questions helped the team to get a place on the podium. The presentation of Rábaköz pekes and Kalocsa chupros folk games on stage was just icing on the cake. The jury’s decision filled all three teams with great joy. The children were visibly happy with each other’s success.

We heartily congratulate the teams of the Kőkúti school in Tata and their trainer, Simon Mariann, teacher and humanities majoring in education!
