He achieved national 2nd place Stupid Vivien, Tokaj-Hegyalja University III. year teaching student at the XXV. National Mother Tongue Teaching Competition. Informative reading

April 15-17, 2024. Vivien competed with students from teacher training institutions in Budapest, Nagykőrös, Cluj, Eger, Vác, and Debrecen. The competition topic was the processing of informative reading. Our student gave a lesson on animal migration to the 3rd graders of the Kölcsey Ferenc Református Vocational Primary School, with whom he was able to realize a large-scale, spectacular and effective transfer of knowledge to the satisfaction of the jury and the other participants.

During the evaluation, the three-member jury took into account, among other things, the preparation for learning through the processing of reading, the implementation of subject integration, the use of digital tools, interactivity, the structure of the lesson, the method of synthesizing and educating readers, the methods used, work forms, evaluation methods, the personality, creativity and language use of the teacher candidates.

Professional conversation

In parallel with the competition lessons, the contestants and their accompanying teacher, as well as the accompanying students, could participate in interesting and spectacular cultural programs – a visit to the Magda Szabó Memorial Hall, a tower tour of the great church, a visit to the great library.

The program also included a professional discussion between the university lecturers, the mentor pedagogues leading the practice, the jury and the competitors, as well as student chaperones. In this context, teacher Dr. Toma Kornélia presented the training portfolio of the University of Tokaj-Hegyalja, the current curriculum of the 167-year-old teacher training course in Sárospatak, the content of the mother tongue subject-pedagogy courses, the professional practice, the practice places in the stream, the professional collaborations implemented in the field of teacher training, and spoke about the content, purpose and importance of study trips organized for teaching students. Those present listened to each other with great interest, what are the characteristics of native language subject pedagogic training, and then discussed different forms of professional contact.
