--

The Kaposvár District Prosecutor’s Office brought the Nigerian man in his thirties to court in an accelerated procedure for the crime of escaping a prisoner by violating the rules of coercive measures.

According to the indictment, the man accused of drug trafficking in another case was under criminal supervision from May 2021. According to the court’s decision, the man could only leave the administrative area of the Kaposvár district with a special permit, and the relevant police had to check his movements with a tracking device.

However, the man, who was actually staying in a village near Kaposvár, removed the technical device attached to his hand at the end of March 2024, and then first traveled to Kaposvár by public transport, from where he wanted to continue first to Budapest and then to Germany. However, the man’s attempt failed, the police of the Fonyód Police Department – stopping the train to Budapest at Balatonlell – arrested him and took him into custody.

The Kaposvár District Prosecutor’s Office brought the man to court while in custody. The Kaposvár District Court found the man guilty in accordance with the prosecutor’s charge and sentenced him to 70 days in prison.

The photo shows a tracking device removed from the man’s hand.
