Nigerians accused of drug trafficking.

The Kaposvár District Prosecutor’s Office brought charges against a Nigerian man in his thirties for the offense of escaping by violating the rules of coercive measures. The case was heard in an accelerated procedure.

According to the public prosecutor’s statement, the man took off the tracking device and tried to flee the criminal proceedings against him abroad by leaving the Kaposvár district.

According to the indictment, the man accused of drug trafficking has been under criminal supervision since May 2021, which was recently extended by the Capital Court with the provision that the accused may only leave the administrative area of the Kaposvár district with a special permit, and that his movements must be monitored by the competent police using a tracking device .

However, the man, who was actually staying in a village near Kaposvár, removed the technical device attached to his hand at the end of March 2024, and then first traveled to Kaposvár by public transport, from where he wanted to continue first to Budapest and then to Germany. The man was arrested and detained by the police of the Fonyód Police Department after stopping the train to Budapest at Balatonlell.

The Kaposvár District Prosecutor’s Office brought the accused to court while in custody. The District Court of Kaposvár found him guilty in accordance with the prosecutor’s charge and sentenced him to 70 days in prison.
