Although we can now get many foods cheaper than a year ago, it has become ingrained in our habits to primarily look for products offered at cheaper and discount prices, including mostly well-proven private label products. Hungarian consumers do not forget high inflation, and Lidl’s experience also shows that the search for low prices continues, Hungarian consumers are still looking at what and how much they spend. In addition, they try to take advantage of all the savings opportunities offered by the supermarket chain, so it is no coincidence that the various coupons are also extremely popular, on which they also place great emphasis.

The fact that they can buy their favorite products at a lower price is extremely important for customers. Lidl recognized this and was one of the first to start its long-term price reduction program, with which it has been continuously helping its customers for 15 months now. Thanks to the permanent price reductions, the supermarket chain not only offers its products at the best possible prices, but also contributed to breaking inflation in line with the government’s efforts.

The importance of the program is clearly demonstrated by the fact that, as part of it, the supermarket chain has so far reduced the prices of more than 600 products, the impact of which can be felt by all customers. Among the products that have permanently become cheaper, you can find discounted products in all product categories, from basic goods to various convenience products, which can be purchased up to 50 percent cheaper.

Another 60 products have become cheaper as part of the latest permanent price reduction campaign. Namely, in the long term, that is, for these goods, customers not only have to pay less for the duration of a short promotion, but the low prices are guaranteed for a longer period of time.

Thanks to the price reduction, households can save a lot, as, for example, the price of Pikok pork sausages is reduced by 35 percent (from HUF 999 to HUF 759), Bellarom Crema coffee beans by 24 percent (from HUF 4,599 to HUF 3,699), Primadonna extra virgin olive oil by 13 percent (from HUF 4,499 to HUF 3,999 HUF), while the chicken breast fillet stuffed with Culinea cheese also decreased by 13 percent (from HUF 1,349 to HUF 1,199). Other popular products have also become cheaper: the price of Vemondo Vegan Bruger, for example, has become 12 percent lower, and you have to pay HUF 200 less for Húsfarm pork side. The permanently reduced price products also include teas, cold meats, baked goods, fresh meats, cleaning products and frozen products.

The company’s goal is to enable customers to shop with the high quality and favorable prices they are used to from Lidl, and it supports this with many tools in addition to permanent price reductions. Promotions with a diverse range of products, renewed every week, are extremely popular and in demand, as are the “We give you more” promotions, in the framework of which the company offers its customers a discount of up to 50 percent instead of the mandatory 15 percent. Products in XXL packaging are also regularly available, the price per kilogram is more favorable compared to products in normal packaging, so you can save a lot with them. You can find goods marked with the “Super price” and “Crazy Lidl price” signs in the offer, and customers can save a lot with the cheaper together (e.g. pay two, get three) promotions, when they get various discounts when buying several products. And to support health-conscious nutrition, the company offers a 15 percent discount on the price of fresh fish every Friday.

Lidl’s loyalty program, Lidl Plus, introduced almost 3 years ago, is also popular, and is now used by more than 40 percent of customers. Thanks to the free-to-download application, users can receive a number of automatically activated weekly offers, unique discounts, scratch-off prize cards, and discount offers from Lidl’s partners.
