From shadow to light – Beyond the Black – We went to my Ankor concert
On April 10, we could see two girl metal bands on the stage of Barba Negra Blue.
The band Ankor has been known in metal circles since 2011. Spanish alternative metal band, their singer Jessie Williams is British, drummer Eleni Nota is Greek, the other members of the band are David Romeu, Fito Martinez on guitar, and Julio Lopez on bass, they are of Spanish nationality. Jessie first sang while reciting and rapping in some parts of the verse, and in the choruses she suddenly switched melodious singing with croaking snoring, I was surprised where such a voice comes from this girl. The mood was brilliantly enhanced, in the case of a backing band, I rarely expect them to continue playing, this is what happened with them. Fito plowed the stage back and forth with his guitar, punk hair, jumping, running, playing music alternately and at the same time. The grimaces didn’t seem fake either, the band really enjoyed the evening. Their music is sometimes fast-paced, sometimes crushing, sometimes lyrical, sometimes disco metal, sometimes lyrical, but the fact that they even have a rather unique cover of a Shawn Mendes song in their repertoire (Unfortunately, Senorita was not in the setlist), I will quietly mention Eminem’s cover of Lose Yourself (this wasn’t in the setlist either) that’s enough to make me like them.
They were followed by the team of Beyond the Black with a small change of outfit.
They prepared thoroughly for the evening, on the small stage of Barba Negra, a second small stage was built for this evening in the middle of the tent. I would like to note right away that they sounded crystal clear, the sound system was flawless on both stages, the lyrical songs sounded almost “ringing”, but let’s not rush ahead.
The band moved between the two stages throughout the evening, roughly divided into three or four songs. As long as the singer – Jennifer and the guitarist Chris made their way through the audience – like Moses in the sea – to the small stage, a guitar solo or background music played on the other stage.
Leading off the first song with a few-minute intro, they marched to the “mini stage” in masks and with lightsabers, so that after the introduction they could return to the bigger stage, hitting the strings. Jennifer is not only aesthetically beautiful, her voice is amazing. Her red black dress created a lava effect. During the evening, she changed her clothes several times, around the middle of the concert she changed into a black body-hugging dress. His wonderful energetic dance was also transmitted to the audience, although we only jumped enthusiastically until the lyrical songs followed. Here, for the duration of three songs, they again walked across the middle stage, Jennifer accompanied herself on the piano (synth), next to Chris with an acoustic guitar (more than two people would have been difficult to fit here). The lyrical songs were chillingly touching, I don’t even understand why this girl/band doesn’t fill stadiums with such an organ. After the impact, we had a little lull while we applauded them back. “Demon” took the stage, that is, Jennifer spread her black wings and hugged us to her bosom while singing. After that, the last two songs of the finale very strikingly “from shadow to light” one after the other, and then they said goodbye to us with thanks, according to their claim, we were the loudest and most enthusiastic audience on the tour (I always believe this when every band claims this).
Funfact: After the concert, the members of the Ankor band came out to sign autographs and take selfies, and not in any way. They pushed themselves out in a shopping cart in the name of practicality, and posed for a group photo with everyone as needed.
