Not everyone liked school penmanship in grammar classes, but the rigor demanded that everyone learn and apply at least some basic spelling principles. Knowledge may wear off over time, but good spellers should have no problem with a few questions about our words that many miss.
Although in the world of quick, short message exchanges, people don’t always pay attention to perfect spelling, miss a punctuation mark, or make a typo in a sentence, it is a basic requirement not to make huge mistakes in the text.
