A suspended prison sentence was imposed on the night watchman who took the phone and cash from a sleeping guest at a nightclub in Esztergom.
According to the established facts, in the early hours of November 12, 2022, the victim fell asleep sitting on a flower stand next to the entrance door of the nightclub in Esztergom, while his mobile phone slipped out of his hand. The defendant, working as a night watchman, picked up the phone worth HUF 60,000 from the victim’s leg and walked away. After a few minutes, the accused went back to the victim, who was still sleeping, searched his clothes, took the HUF 3,000 cash from his wallet and took it with him. The accused noticed that the security cameras recorded his act, so he returned the mobile phone to the victim.
Based on the indictment of the Esztergom District Prosecutor’s Office, the Esztergom District Court sentenced the defendant to 1 year in prison, suspended for 2 years, and ordered him to pay HUF 17,100 in damages. The criminal sentence is final, the prosecutor acknowledged that.
