The participants of the agreement could eliminate the price competition, they created an artificially high price level. In recent days, GVH employees conducted raids across the country at the premises of the soft drink manufacturing and distribution company, as well as the store chains.

According to information the Hungarian subsidiary of the Polish Maspex group – among others it is Hungarian distributor of Olympos, Kubu, Apenta, Topjoy and Nestea brands – based on the evidence obtained in the investigation of the HoReCa (hotels, restaurants, coffee houses) sector, the competition authority has been investigating since February. The company probably prescribed to its partners the minimum price at which they can sell their products in domestic catering establishments and during wholesale distribution. Based on the seized documents, the soft drink manufacturer fixed the prices of the drinks and other products it sells not only in the wholesale and hospitality sectors, but probably also in the commercial sector. In this way, they could avoid price competition with popular brands such as Apenta, Kubu or Nestea.

On May 23, the GVH initiated a new procedure against Maspex Olympos Üdítőital Gyártó Kft. and several of its partners in the food industry, which began with on-site raids on the premises of the companies concerned.

In order to strengthen the competitiveness of Hungarian producers and processors and to reduce the consumer prices of dairy products, the Milk Trade Organization and Product Council is revising the price forecast methodology that determines the price of raw milk – this was agreed upon by the leaders of the dairy trade trade organization and the Economic Competition Authority.
