Eight municipalities will miss the already scheduled by-election based on the law that entered into force on Friday, the National Elections Office announced on May 26 on its website. They wrote: the law on the amendment of the electoral procedure rules related to electronic administration was published in the Magyar Közlöny, according to the provisions of which entered into force on Friday, local and ethnic self-government elections cannot be held until the next general municipal elections.

Accordingly, those interim local government elections for which the campaign period has not yet begun before the entry into force of the law will be omitted.

According to the summary of the NVI, due to the amendment, the by-election in Tarrós in Baranya county will not be held (an individual list representative would have been elected here), the capital’s XII. district (an individual constituency representative would have been elected here), in Somogysámson settlement in Somogy county, where a mayor would have been elected, in Mátraszentimré in Heves county, where a mayor and individual list representatives would have been elected. The counties of Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén On a garland the election, where the election of mayor and individual list representative would have been held, and in Csikóstöttös of Tolna County, where a mayor would have been elected, will also be missed.

Due to the change in the law, in two settlements – the counties of Tolna in Dombóvár and the counties of Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén On a muddy stream – the election of the ethnic representative of the Roma settlement will not be held.
