The Town Hall has been renewed in every detail, thanks to the effective cooperation between the contractor and heritage protection, as well as the work of those involved in the project work. The work carried out was extremely professional and led to a wonderful renewal, but there is more to it than that. A new function and new content have been added to the City Hall, and this is the modern and interactive visitor center that will soon open in the renovated building. Klaudia Szemereyné Pataki, mayor of Kecskemét, spoke about this at today’s General Assembly, in connection with the report on the historic renovation of the City Hall, which is being carried out within the framework of the Modern Cities Program.

The mayor said that a series of ceremonies are planned for the handover of the renewed City Hall between June 4 and 10. The first day is related to the day of national unity, and since the art nouveau style characteristic of the building (and many buildings in the city) is also characteristic of our twin cities across and beyond the border, a joint celebration with them (their delegations) is truly worthy of this event. The mayor of Sepsiszentgyörgy will give a speech at the ceremony. During the week, everyone will have the opportunity to visit the City Hall, programs, concerts, and workshops organized by the city’s institutions await those interested, and the event will be colored by the program presented by the sister cities. The colorful and exciting series of programs will end on June 10, World Art Nouveau Day.

Klaudia Szemereyné Pataki pointed out that during the week she will make a proposal that the two rooms located next to the ceremonial hall should also be given worthy names. Based on this, one would be named after Péter Lestár and the other after Elek Kada.

The renovation of the City Hall, regardless of party affiliation, was praised by all representatives, they all thanked those who contributed to the fact that the building not only shines again in its glorious light, but also has been expanded with new functions (visitor center, cafe), and thanks to all this, it attracts tourists and people interested in the to the city from all over the country and the world.
