Parking meters would also be rare.

General Deputy Mayor Ambrus Kiss reduced the income from parking spaces on roads and public spaces owned by the Metropolitan Municipality at the last session of the Metropolitan Assembly. Kiss talked about: their income from parking was only 868 million forints last year, while the districts receive much more from parking.

Parking in Budapest has changed significantly since last September: four of the previous paid waiting zones with 27 different rates were left, and these also received new rates – and although this meant a 36 percent increase in some districts, the capital somehow got less than three years ago.

The capital is looking for a solution to the situation in the individual agreements concluded with the districts, on the basis of which the districts pay the capital for parking. In fact, there are also districts that do not pay. The XII led by Zoltán Pokorni. The district currently does not have a contract with the Metropolitan Municipality, so it does not pay. Kiss Ambrus a Popular word explained that a new model had been found: they would conclude contracts with the districts in which it is stipulated that parking meters can only be installed more densely than the 250 meters specified in the previous decree “on the basis of strong public interest”, moreover, the existing ones will also be thinned out. In addition, the city administration practically introduces an “upper ceiling for the justified cost of parking operation”. For this, the costs of the parking systems of the three most efficient districts are taken into account, and if any municipality deviates from this by 15 percent, the capital will not pay for it.
