The last weekend of May always has the richest programs, and now the Whitsun weekend will also be at the same time, so you can expect a real variety of programs. Our list is constantly expanding, it’s worth coming back! More than 60 programs – Children’s Day 2023.

dm Children’s Day – Railway History Park, May 27-28.

On May 27 and 28, the time will come again for one of the most successful Hungarian Children’s Day events. This year, the program is more colorful than ever, and in addition to entertainment, the theme of sustainability and numerous educational programs are also highly emphasized. It is no coincidence that the dm Children’s Day in the Railway History Park is one of the most popular programs for families every year, as the Park’s nearly 70,000 square meter area offers fun and colorful programs, including the Orient Hall. It won’t be any different this year either: at the end of May, for two full days between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m., the main role belongs to children! Performs among others Apacuka band, Jakab Kalap, Judit Halász, the Kiskalász band at the Fabula Puppet Theater and that Apple band too. Thanks to the dm’s programs, this time too visitors can encounter many interesting topics and there will also be a gastronomic courtyard.

Cifra Palace XXL – Children’s Day – Palace of Arts, May 28, Sunday 10:00-15:00 (free)

Müpa’s Cifra Palace on Sundays grows huge on the occasion of Children’s Day. Music, tales on three stages; both inside the Müpa and outside in the open air, a lot of creative and musical activities await all children and childlike adults who want to spend this day actively with meaningful programs. Summer Pagonyfest – Margitsziget, Kristály, Saturday, May 27, morning for children, afternoon for adults

Hip Hop! Go to Fairytale – The Ethnographic Museum’s Children’s Day family program, May 28 (free, registration)

“A decrepit old man, who can’t even walk anymore, only limps, bundles his cane basket on his back, holds a cellar in his hand, and sets out over the mountain to pick blackberries. Whether he gets there or where he ends up is in the middle of the story.” In the exhibition’s galaxy of objects, we get to know the cellar and other strange objects of fairy tales with the stories and games of Transylvanian storyteller and fairy tale teacher Beáta Bedőházi. You can join the programs at the following times: 10:30 a.m., 12:00 p.m., and 1:30 p.m. Details here. The event is free, but registration is required. Open ceremony doors – across the country, on May 28 (free)

On Children’s Day, May 28, starting at 10 a.m., all the country’s professional firemen’s barracks and guardhouses, the participating municipal and volunteer fire departments, exhibition spaces, as well as the Firefighters’ Skanzen in Újpest and the Firefighters’ Museum in Kőbánya (1105 Budapest, Martinovics tér 12.) are also waiting for those interested, the brave and less brave, so that everyone can experience what it’s like to be a firefighter during siren-sounding vehicles, test alarms, and putting on the deployment protective clothing. Marczi CHILDREN’S DAY – Marczibányi Square Cultural Center, May 27, Saturday 10:00-12:00 (free)

From 10 a.m. you can listen to the African tale KODZSUGUKILA THE WITCH accompanied by puppets and special instruments. After the performance, the children can learn more about the special musical instruments, make masks, and with the help of a team of illustrators, they can try out how big it is to paint, draw each other (glass portrait drawing), make prints (stencil printing), try out special techniques (joint bamboo drawing), to play, to create together. Children’s Day – Kultúrkúria, Saturday, May 27 from 3 p.m. (free)

You can watch the performance “Fabatkák kertje” performed by the Mesebolt Puppet Theatre, followed by an interactive family concert by the Boridalok Trió. There will be continuous playhouses: Princes and Princesses play park, László Vitéz puppet machine, Toy garden, Crafty wonderland playhouse, crafts corner, seesaw, logic and skill play terrace. Children’s Day on the Children’s Railway – Sunday, May 28, 10:00-17:00 (free)

On May 28, Children’s Day a Children under the age of 18 can travel free of charge on the Széchenyi Mountain Children’s Railway, trains run every 40-50 minutes, there is also a nostalgia train. In addition to the experience-filled journey, visitors are treated to family programs at the Hűvösvölgy station between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. For the little ones, there will be face painting, giant coloring, giant board game, creative house, bouncy castle, obstacle course, children’s railway LEGO vehicles, photo shoot in uniform. The winners of the family quiz can also expect railway-related gifts. Those interested can see the inside and outside of a fire engine and board a nostalgia bus. Railway enthusiasts can take a ride and there is also a sustainable field table and a train simulator waiting for them. On the KRESZ track, children can learn about the rules of correct traffic. Lurkócia City Children’s Day – Szentendre, Czóbel Park, May 28, Sunday 10:00-18:00 (free)

The children’s state of Lurkócia will be re-established for one day, where children can visit ministries. At the stations, you can collect stamps, valuable prizes will be drawn among those who have collected them all and put the collection sheet in the box, but of course there will also be other programs: concerts, musical instruments, demonstrations, Uncle Tusi’s chess class, P’Art Cinema expansion, the Árvácska in Szentendre The program of the Animal Protection Association, the deployment of firefighters, a police demonstration, an obstacle course and a sock fight. Seventh Game Festival – Székesfehérvár, May 28, Sunday 9:30-20:00 (free)

On the last Sunday of May, the downtown Fehérvár will once again belong to the children: the Hetedhét Játékfestival is waiting for families from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on May 28 with lots of games and musical and fairy-tale stage programs. Among other things, Kolompos ensemble and the Rutkai Bori Band will entertain the public at the Town Hall square. Of course, there will also be a Weekly Test, in which the children can learn the story of a horse this year. Children’s Day 2023 – Vác, Rózsakert or Imre Madách Cultural Center, Sunday, May 28 from 10 a.m. (free)

If the weather is good, you are invited to the Rózsakert, where the Iszki band will perform from 10 a.m., there will also be a rounding session, dog demonstrations, creative skill games, a presentation of the Familiia Gladiatoria, a craft session and a fairy tale orchestra. Details here. Free!
