The Simpsons spawned many iconic characters, one of which was Larry the Tavern – full name Larry Dalrymple. He was sitting in Moe’s pub, drinking beer and looking a little down. He rarely said anything, but appeared sporadically in the series over its 35 years.

During the most recent episode, old fans got a bit of a shock, as the character collapsed dead in the bar during the episode “Cremains the Day”. Homer, Moe, Carl, and Lenny also showed up at his funeral to pay their respects, with Homer lamenting that they knew next to nothing about their late friend despite spending so much time with him.

The Simpsons is an American television animated situation comedy – which has received numerous Emmy awards over the decades – by Matt Groening, produced for the Fox TV channel by the Klasky Csupo studio (of which the Hungarian-born Gábor Csupó is a founding member). It first appeared on April 19, 1987 as a 2-minute program on the Tracey Ullman Show. It was such a success that two years later, on December 17, 1989, the Fox TV channel aired it for 20 minutes.

The Simpsons has since lasted 35 seasons and made Matt Groening world famous. It presents a not-so-average family with ordinary problems. Through the life of a middle-class American family, it humorously illustrates the world of American culture and society. The story takes place in a town called Springfield, which the writer of the series, by his own admission, modeled on Springfield, Oregon.

They have seen the future several times

Everyone knows the members of the Simpson family, the series started already in 1989, and new episodes will definitely be made next year. During this time, it happened quite often that the writers of the series “predicted” things that in reality only happened later. Examples include the election of Donald Trump as president, the economic crisis in Greece, Neymar’s injury at the 2014 World Cup or Lady Gaga’s later memorable performance at the Super Bowl. Here’s a look at the 20+1 times The Simpsons predicted the future.
