Dániel Flaskay, known as the Hungarian Mowgli, was already fond of animals as a child, so he was sure that he wanted to work with them as an adult. The man currently works as the animal care director of a wildlife rescue center in Zanzibar, located on the east coast of Africa.
Dániel Flaskay spoke on the RTL Fókusz program about how he was recently attacked by a lion even as an experienced animal caretaker. As he said, he did not recognize that the animal was having a “bad day” and tried to play with it. According to him, he felt that he was in trouble when the lion jumped on him and its claws dug into his body.
The animal keeper had a total of six more serious injuries that required stitches. Supply in Zanzibar was not easy either.
He recalled that the sterilized needle was taken straight from the oven, and then he was only given an anesthetic on special request. He added that the wound on his leg was badly infected.
According to Dániel Flaskay, the lion attack was caused by simple jealousy. Even after the accident, the animal keeper confidently returned to the wild animals. He noted that he would also like to hold educational lectures in the summer to talk about responsible animal husbandry.
