Princess Katalin received an amazing new role from her father-in-law, King Charles: she was appointed a Royal Companion of the Order of Honour.

This prestigious appointment is a unique royal recognition, created especially for Katalin, with particular regard to the fact that she is currently undergoing chemotherapy treatments after being diagnosed with cancer.

With the award a princess in recognition of her distinguished service as a member of the royal family, as well as her support and interest in the arts.

The Duchess is also a patron of the National Portrait Gallery, the V&A and the Royal Photographic Society.

The Royal Order of Honor, whose membership is limited to only 65 people, was founded by King George V in 1917 to recognize those who have made outstanding achievements in the fields of arts, sciences, medicine and public service, reports Hello Magazine.

Royal watchers are likely to next see Catherine wearing the award at a uniformed event, such as a state visit or annual diplomatic reception.

The insignia of the Order of Honor is a golden pendant suspended from a red ribbon and crowned with a crown. The pendant depicts an armored knight under an oak tree, from which hangs the shield of the royal coat of arms. The following motto can be read on the blue enamel border of the pendant:

Loyal in loyalty and pure in honor.

What other honors does Prince William’s wife have?

The duchess, who has been a member of the royal family for 13 years, has already received many other awards and gifts.

In April 2019, the princess received from Queen Elizabeth the Dame Grand Cross of the Royal Victoria Order (GCVO) award.

It is the highest knighthood that can be bestowed by a monarch for services to the monarch. The order was first established by Queen Victoria in 1896 and is the current monarch, King Charles, who is the ruler of the order.

The badges include a blue belt, a cross and a silver eight-pointed breast star – all of which Katalin presented at the American state banquet in June 2019.

The GCVO is not the only honor the Duchess has received.

What other gifts did Catherine receive from the royal family?

When Vilmos and Katalin got married in 2011, they received their own country estate as a gift from the late queen. Anmer Hall is located near the royal family’s Sandringham estate in Norfolk and The Welsh like to spend school holidays and Christmas with their children here.

The Duchess also received a number of beautiful pieces of jewellery, including the late Diana Princess of Wales’ diamond and sapphire engagement ring from her husband Prince William.

As a wedding present, Queen Camilla also gave the princess a gold chain link charm bracelet engraved with the letter “C” with the symbol of Catherine and the crown.
