József Kalapács also spoke earlier that he probably wouldn’t even be alive anymore if he didn’t give up cigarettes and alcohol. “I drank almost only on the weekend, but then so much that the next day I didn’t even remember that there was a party at all, and in retrospect it’s terrible, because you party to feel good, if you don’t even remember it, then there’s a big problem ” he said a few years ago.
What happened to the Hell Machine?
József Kalapács was the singer of Pokolgép between 1982 and 1990, then he left the band with one of his fellow musicians, László Nagyfi, and founded Oment to play even harder music. Kalapács then founded the band Hard with the former members of Edda (which operated as Kard from 2013), but he also carried out projects under the names Kalapács and Kalapács and Akusztika.
Richárd Bánhegyesi currently sings in Pokolgép: József Kalapács was replaced by Joe Rudán in 1990, and then by Attila Tóth in 2010 – but at the beginning of this year, the latter also left the band, partly also for health reasons, fearing for his health. You can read more about Attila Tóth’s decision here.
