Her CV is the face of a young woman who got into an unpleasant situation because she accidentally inserted a photo in her documents sent to several job advertisements that really didn’t fit. 21-year-old Claire Schmitt had already applied for four jobs before she noticed that she had inserted a photo in the file for the section listing her studies that she had downloaded from Twitter while editing her resume.
The young man from California started diligently looking for a job at the beginning of April this year, because he wanted to be able to start working as soon as possible after graduating from university and getting his diploma. He applied for four teaching positions, but he also surfed the Internet in the meantime. This is how it happened that while browsing Twitter, i.e. X, he found an old recording of Miley Cyrus, more precisely from the time Hannah Montana he played the title character of the Disney series.
I was in complete shock that this slipped through. What a silly and foolish thing! It might have happened when I opened a new Twitter window and saw this tweet. I thought how funny this picture of Miley Cyrus was
– recalled Schmitt, who saved this photo because he wanted to send it to one of his friends later. As he says, he dedicated a separate folder on his computer to photos he thought were funny. The trouble happened when he wanted to pull out the picture of the singer on the table. He accidentally inserted it on the second page of the resume.
I’ve already edited my resume about a million times, I really wanted to perfect it. Then I downloaded it as a PDF. It turned out to be a little more than one page, but I didn’t look at the second page, so it didn’t even show up. I applied for four jobs, and then the recognition hit me like a slap in the face. I scrolled down a bit before closing it. I immediately checked to see if I forwarded this. Unfortunately, that’s how it happened, and there was no way I could replace or delete it
– said Schmitt, who also finds it embarrassing because he is not particularly a fan of Miley Cyrus. The worst part, he says, is that he hasn’t heard back from any of the workplaces. He has learned for life to carefully review everything before clicking the send button, and he can advise others to do the same.
