Some had to play an inappropriate situational game, while a girl in a headscarf was asked about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

Outrageous, personal questions were asked to the applicants at Semmelweis University, which led to the initiation of an investigation at the institution, Eduline wrote.

The university took advantage of the opportunity to listen to the applicants in an oral interview. These conversations took place between April 12-18. The approximately 3,500 applicants were interviewed by 93 committees of the institution’s five faculties, the portal reports.

The high school admissions student, who spoke under the pseudonym Helga, had always dreamed of becoming a doctor. His admission took place on April 15, for which he had to wait two hours, and then, according to his words, the examiners did not even introduce themselves, but went right to the questions. According to the girl, one of the examiners made a phone call to someone without paying attention at the beginning of the conversation.

When he “returned” to the exam, they came to the topic of diabetes during professional questions.

“I started talking about diabetes. Speaking of which, he asked how many kilos do you weigh? Since I didn’t want to say it, I answered that I am definitely more than the 60 kilos I talked about earlier. To this, the man announced that it’s a big problem that I’m already overweight, but I’m lucky because I don’t look morbidly overweight.”

Helga told the shocking details.

As it turned out, he wasn’t the only one who had a similar experience. He was dismissed from Kölcsey Ferenc High School last year Tamás Palya wrote in a Facebook group that several of his students in his private lessons complained about Semmelweis’ procedure. In addition to waiting for several hours, there was a girl who was asked if she had a boyfriend, and another student, who was Muslim and wearing a hijab, was asked about the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. And one of the admissions officers involved had to solve a situational task, the essence of which was what he would do if, as a male doctor, a young female student asked him if he could come to his apartment.

After the incident, Eduline contacted Semmelweis University, where they replied: “complaints were received from two members of one committee due to the overly critical statements of the committee chairman”.

“After an immediate investigation of the case, the results of the exam chairman were excluded, and the admission score of the students concerned was determined by taking into account the opinions of the other two members”

added the institution.
