The Hungarians are revolting: a nationwide panic arose because of a movie trailer, the replacement of a well-known voice actor caused a huge scandal

--

If a well-known world star or character is not voiced by the same voice actor after many years, it can cause a huge upset. Even then, a serious scandal broke out after it was revealed that the dubbing studio he replaced János Csernák in one of the Liam Neeson films, as they did not want to pay the money that the actor would have asked for the work. A separate petition was started to call János Csernák back to dub, but now it seems that there may be even greater cooperation regarding András Sinkovits-Vitay, who perhaps for the first time will not dub Hugh Jackman as Wolves/Wolves.

It was recently released online the Marvel movie Deadpool & Wolverine coming this summer dubbed trailer, which is amazingly exciting and for the first time in the history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe promises a really bloody, raw, obscene production – no wonder, since Ryan Reynolds and Kevin Feige confirmed that Deadpool & Wolverine will not be a light-hearted, low-key superhero cinema, but it will be as outspokenly cerebral as the previous two parts, which have not yet been presented as part of the MCU.

However, as soon as the Hungarian dubbed trailer was uploaded, a panic and a vehement tsunami of complaints flooded the comment sections on both video sharing sites and social media platforms, because this time Hugh Jackman was not voiced by András Sinkovits-Vitay. The fans are already worried that Farkas/Rozsomák will not speak in his familiar Hungarian voice after 14 years, and many are already writing the production off because of this.

It should be added that it is not the fault of the film if a well-known actor does not lend the voice of a character in a dubbed version, and the voices heard in the trailer do not always match the dubbing of the film – considering that the dubbed trailer of Deadpool & Wolverine was released at the same time debuted with the original language version, we can imagine how quickly the dubbing had to be done, and although Ervin Nagy managed to dub Ryan Reynolds, András Sinkovits-Vitay might not have been available immediately; but this does not mean that he will not voice Hugh Jackman’s character in the film either.

The problem, however, is that the actor last dubbed a movie in 2017, namely Logan, which was originally supposed to be Hugh Jackman’s last Wolf movie. András Sinkovits-Vitay most recently undertook dubbing in 2021 in the nostalgia production Jóbarátok: Újra gött, in which he provided the voice of Matthew Perry (he was always the Hungarian voice of Chandler before that).

András Sinkovits-Vitay previously said this about his legendary dubbing roles:

The comments below show how panicked fans are about the voiceover change:

“I hope András Sinkovits-Vitay will be Logan’s voice, because it’s quite unpleasant”

“The Hungarian dubbing was really shamefully underpaid, so let’s at least throw something together and find András Sinkovits-Vitay to accept this for us!”

“If this remains the dubbing voice, I won’t even watch it in Hungarian… Fuck the dubbing studios and those who regret the little money from the actors… I’m dead, what a soher band!”

“A few days ago I interviewed the artist András Sinkovits-Vitay. He told about the unworthy situation of the dubbing profession and the humiliatingly low remuneration of dubbing actors. He put it into perspective that if things are not sorted out in a short time, then unfortunately, this summer, Hugh Jackman will not be speaking in Hungarian in his voice in this film”

“For 17 years, in 7 X-men movies plus approx. we’re used to a dubbing voice in all Hugh Jackman movies, and the most anticipated movie of the year exceeds this?! Who was the intellectually disabled person who ordered this? It will be a complete disaster in the Hungarian language if it stays like this…!”

There was a similar scandal in 2012, when the trailer for the first Hobbit movie was released, and Ferenc Bács did not voice Gandalf in the first version either. They quickly contacted the actor to ask why he did not take on the dubbing of Ian McKellen again, and Ferenc Bács reassured everyone that, although he did not understand it during the preview recording, he will once again voice Gandalf in the film.

So it’s not out of the question that this could also be the reason for András Sinkovits-Vitay, but it’s true, the dubbing studio should spend more money on his work if they want the film to be successful here as well; and there is a good chance that after Spider-Man: No Way Home, Deadpool & Wolverine will be Marvel’s most successful production in recent years. By the way, several people addressed the artist with an open letter and a post on social media,

and the editorial staff of Promotions tried to reach him, but so far they have not succeeded.

We also contacted MaFilm Audio Kft., the producer of the dubbing of the previous Deadpool movies, with our questions, but we did not receive an answer from them until the publication of our article. We were only able to speak with the staff of Magyar Szinkron, they don’t know more than the rest of us at the moment, so it is not yet known what will happen to Hugh Jackman’s Hungarian voice in the finished film.

This is what the dubbed trailer for Deadpool & Wolverine sounds like; what can we say, it’s really not the best like this:
