The popular female reporter revealed how Daniel Ricciardo became the godfather of her little son

It’s probably known to many – but perhaps not – that Daniel Ricciardo is friends with Natalie Pinkham, a popular F1 reporter currently working for Sky Sports. His relationship with the 46-year-old lady and her family is so close that he is the godfather of the older of Pinkham’s two children, 8-year-old Wilf. And now we also found out why the 8-time race winner was chosen by Pinkham and her husband, Owain Walbyoff.

Recently Natalie Pinkham, Sky Sports’ Formula 1 reporter, was a guest on the Pitstop podcast, and among many interesting stories, she also told how she and her husband turned Daniel Ricciardo into a godfather. “What happened behind this was that we couldn’t decide who would be our children’s godparents, so my husband and I decided to wait 6 months and see who would make the most effort for Wilf. Because sometimes people choose godparents from among their old friends, and then regret it because they are not really interested in the child.”

And here they realized that Ricciardo would make a great godfather. “I can say without a doubt that he made the greatest effort. He asked if he could come over and I told him, “I won’t be home,” but he said, “I’m actually going to Wilf’s.” I can assure you that the guy is just… Whatever you think you know about Daniel and his kindness, his compassion, while obviously as we know he’s an amazing competitor and a great guy to ride with, but his kindness is something that a lot of people don’t see how deep he is.”

And before anyone thinks that there was ever more between Pinkham and the Australian pilot who is 12 years younger than her, the reporter also talked about the development of their friendship, as if making it clear that they didn’t know each other “that way”. “He and I started at the same time in F1 and then I told him that I needed a ticket for my boyfriend at the time, now my husband. I told him that Wiggy needed a ticket, and he said, “Sure, sure, he can come with me,” and they became friends from then on. So they are almost better friends than I am with him (Ricciardo).”
