This is how a flight attendant punishes stubborn passengers

A flight attendant revealed that she has a way to how to help young families when airline passengers refuse to change seats so parents can stay with their children.

When we don’t buy a seat on an airplane, the computer automatically assigns us a seat, but in this case families traveling together are often torn apart. I also want to encourage passengers to book tickets in advance for a little extra money. However, the majority do not, so flight attendants often have to help keep families together.

A flight attendant helps families with this trick

An Orlando flight attendant has now shared what her method is in similar cases. First, he looks for volunteers to help the family, but if he can’t find any, he also has the perfect method for punishing stubborn passengers. As a “punishment”, he entrusts them with entertaining and supervising the children sitting alone. In essence, it turns them into babysitters for the trip.

He also revealed that on about 80 percent of its monthly flights, seat changes are requested. This is a very divisive topic, as it is possible to book a specific seat on the machines in advance, so many people stick to their seats, especially since the price of these can be very high. Thus, those who choose their seats in advance do not consider it legitimate to ask them to sit elsewhere. While those who do not want to sit separately from their family members and friends, but have not reserved a seat, do not understand why it is not possible to transfer the seat and sit in another place. A survey revealed that passengers are very divided on this issue. A narrow majority (54%) approves the change of seatsbut only if asked politely. 77% would not agree to change seats just because the applicant does not like their assigned seat.

You can often hear similar stories, that families with children or even couples get separated during a trip and try to exchange seats on the plane.

Do you have to hand over the seat?

Of course not, you don’t have to. And it’s also worth thinking about whether another passenger or the flight attendant can be blamed if they don’t want to help you change seats. Because there are airlines that basically forbid changing seats. It is worth finding out in advance whether this is possible if you are considering something like this. Besides that weight restrictions for some aircraft and balancing requirements apply which means that changing seats can affect the balance and stability of the aircraft during takeoff, turbulence and landing. This is why airlines have policies regarding seat allocation and replacement. These policies ensure that all passengers be safe during your journey.

Also, we cannot expect anyone to jump up at our first word and give up their place. In such cases, you should not demand, but try to negotiate politely. It might be a good idea to offer something in return, for example, buying a drink or snack chosen by the other passenger.

It is also important to note that these agreements with the consent of the flight attendant, because in certain places (e.g. emergency exits) it doesn’t matter who is sitting. Or even similar procedures they can also delay the plane during take-off. It’s also worth keeping in mind that since airlines usually charge a fee for reserved seats, they may only allow you to change seats if you pay an extra fee. And if the passenger of the selected seat paid for his seat, it is understandable if he does not want to give it up, so it is unethical to stigmatize him and show him in a bad light.
