It’s no joke, Skoda has flashed a supercar with 1,088 horsepower

Skoda Motorsport looks back on a history of more than 120 years, where they certainly deal with the future a lot. This includes virtual racing, in response to which they created a study called Skoda Vision Gran Turismo, with which you can race in the popular video game Gran Turismo 7.

The designers took the 1957 Skoda 1100 OHC Spider as inspiration when they created the dynamic-looking monoposto racing car – already towards the end of 2022… The long, elongated body was drawn with sharp lines, which works with active aerodynamic elements – for example, the two rear fenders are necessary with opening air deflectors.

In Gran Turismo 7, you will be able to choose between two types of appearance, one is the matte Explorer Green paint, which may be familiar from the Skoda Vision 7S study, and the other is based on the Skoda 130 RS rally car that won its category at the 1977 Monte Carlo Rally.

The driver sits in the center line of the Vision Gran Turismo, held in place by a 6-point seat belt. Instead of a steering wheel, we see a control device that was made based on the experience of people who have been playing with simulators for years, and was modeled after control devices made for simulators. The super-wide display not only informs you of the most important driving information, but the image of the rear-facing camera, which is used to activate the mirrors, appears on the edge.

The supercar was designed around a unique carbon frame, which is 4.41 meters long, 1.95 meters wide and only 94.9 cm high. With 4 drive motors and a battery with a capacity of 87 kWh, the curb weight is 1.3 tons. The electric motors are placed in pairs, in the middle of the body, each with 272 horsepower, which adds up to a system output of 1,088 horsepower and 1,020 Nm.

Skoda engineers created an algorithm that regulates the power output of each drive motor in order to achieve the highest possible speed in a corner, the push rod suspension is similar to that used by Formula-E racing cars. The members of Skoda’s Development and Design group jointly developed the digital driving tone.
