Japanese media previously reported that Honda plans to manufacture its own batteries in Canada. According to this information, the new plant could be operational by 2028. Citing insiders, Reuters reports that the automaker will produce batteries and process the cathode material required for the latter. Electric car production will take place at the existing Alliston car plant.

The planned electric vehicle factory in Canada would be Honda’s second plant in North America. The car manufacturer wants to jointly produce batteries in the US state of Ohio from 2025 with LG Energy Solutions. The factory near Jeffersonville will have an annual capacity of 40 gigawatt hours. Honda is also converting existing Honda factories in Ohio, Marysville Auto Plant (MAP), East Liberty Auto Plant (ELP) and Anna Engine Plant (AEP) with the goal of starting the new Honda e:Architecture in 2026 manufacture and sale of electric cars based on – reports electrive.com.
