FoxPost has become unusable due to Vinted’s action, according to the company, “their system has been hit by a tsunami-like load” in recent days.

Several letters have recently been sent to Telex saying that Vinted’s free shipping promotion has rendered FoxPost unusable. Readers have complained that they haven’t been able to post a package for days, or that they only find an empty slot in the machines with a little luck. According to some, the company’s web interface is not reliable either, because the system indicates that it is possible to pack in the machine, but when the sender arrives at the location, he is faced with the fact that there is no empty space.

We sent questions to FoxPost about the situation, and the company responded that “FoxPost’s system has experienced an unusually high, tsunami-like load over the past few days as a result of a short-term free shipping promotion announced by an independent e-commerce marketplace.”

“Due to the popularity of the unexpected sale, package traffic has increased like a tsunami, which periodically puts an extreme strain on the current capacity of our system. Since the load occurs at the same time, as a result, parcels move continuously in the FoxPost machines, which results in inaccurate indications of the machines’ occupancy on the online interfaces,” says CEO and co-founder Ádám Bengyel in his statement.

In their reply letter, they added that they are constantly working to reduce the load, which is why they extended the working hours of the FoxPost couriers, who empty the priority machines as best they can.

Meanwhile, Vinted was also contacted, and they informed FoxPost that “after learning of the package shipping issues, they have removed the five-day free shipping limit on FoxPost orders in the campaign. This means that the time pressure is removed, users do not have to worry about having to submit their packages within the five-day period,” they added.

According to the company, within a day or two, the saturation of parcel machines will decrease to a manageable level, and the situation may return to normal by the end of the week.
