Index – Culture – Thousands of people read at the same time, in one place, a new Hungarian record was set

--

More than 2,500 people read at the same time on the afternoon of April 23, on the occasion of World Book Day, in Libri stores, thus setting a new record in Hungary.

The joint reading was organized by the Libri bookstore network with the aim of drawing attention to regular, at least 20-minute reading as an excellent stress-reducing method.

Visitors to bookstores were asked to read for at least 20 minutes on the spot. It was possible to participate between 5 and 7 p.m., and participants could verify their connection by scanning a QR code.

The record attempt was successful, so a new domestic record was set at the bookseller after a total of 2,536 people read together. About the event in this article we reported in detail.

With the campaign, Libri wanted to break the Hungarian record for reading at the same time. “Researchers at the University of Sussex found that even just 20 minutes of reading a day can reduce our stress levels by nearly 70 percent. Books are therefore not only suitable for learning, self-improvement or spending our free time: reading also improves our quality of life in the long term,” he said earlier.
