On April 18, the results of the DECODE application were announced, and the exhibition of the entries was opened in the aqb Project Space exhibition space. At the competition, young creators could compete with their works in the categories of Architecture and Visual and Applied Art.

The mission of DECODE is to decipher and focus the concept behind the works, to present the artistic motivation and thereby inspire, as well as to initiate conversation and debate. The applicants had to present their creative thought process through their own project, which they had to present in a media file of no more than three minutes in length. The entries were judged by recognized experts in the fields of architecture and art. Among the applications, the judging committee awarded 1-1 main prize and 2-2 promising project prizes, as well as 1 special spotlight sponsor prize, which it presented again this year in recognition of creative works that serve and promote society. The total award of the tender in the two categories was HUF 2,100,000 net. The exhibition organized from the tender material April 19-25, 2024. can be viewed between, the location is aqb Project Space (1222 Budapest, Nagytétényi út 48-50.).

The DECODE Award was founded by BORD Építéz Stúdió in 2018, with the aim of drawing attention to the importance of value creation. After all, whether we are talking about architecture or any branch of art, there is always a serious creative motive behind buildings, sculptures or other works of art that have a truly unforgettable and striking effect. This is often a mood, a story, a memory that accompanies the creative process as a guiding thread. The name DECODE primarily refers to deciphering and marveling at the valuable thoughts and stories behind the objects around us.

“DECODE for us refers to the decoding of the stories embedded in our works as code. We believe that it is worthwhile to find and understand the ideas behind the works of art in our environment, because we gain inspiration from them.” – said Péter Bordás, Ybl award-winning architect, founder and chief designer of BORD Építéz Stúdió, founder of the DECODE Award

Since 2019, the DECODE Contemporary Architecture and Art Foundation has been organizing the series of events, which have now been organized for the sixth time. This year’s DECODE Spring name aims to draw attention to the fact that from now on the award competition will be held in the spring instead of the usual autumn period. This year, 47 works were submitted to the tender prior to the award ceremony, 20 in the Architecture and 27 Visual and Applied Arts categories, from which a professional jury selected the most outstanding works.
