Folk Art Shop – A prominent representative of Hungarian folk art and Jeremy Irons’ favorite shop for decades

Walking down Régi Posta Street, the sight of the Folk Art Craft Shop (Folk Art Shop) becomes almost familiar. At the same time, it doesn’t hurt to study this shop full of Hungarian folk art beauties in more detail. The combination of expertise and tradition clearly means that the iconic store in the city center has become a favorite of Jeremy Irons, among others.

Ágnes Halas, the store’s manager, dreamer and owner, enthusiastically tells us about everything that can be found here.

“This store was once state-owned and opened in 1962. I started working at the Folk Art Company, which also included this business. When the more peaceful, so to speak, modern times came, we managed to obtain the right to rent and for decades we have been operating the Folk Art Handicraft House with respect and love and we are waiting for those who are interested. What you will find here are the so-called Hungarian artists. juried products. Tablecloths, dolls, clothes, wall decorations and everything related to Hungarian folk art can be found here.”

Folk Art is in an amazingly good location – Régi Posta utca 12. – from a tourist point of view, it is obvious that customers from many countries have already come here. In addition to customers from the Far East and overseas, there is no shortage of well-known customers currently staying in our country.

“Italian fine art is strong and captivating, obviously they don’t come to buy in the largest number, but they regularly come here from, for example, Japan or the United States. Many of the better-known actors have been here, but many musicians, writers, producers could also be listed. Jeremy Irons really likes us, but Eddie Redmayne visited us recently, a few days ago.”

In addition to Hollywood actors and customers from far away, there are also more and more domestic interested parties. When you are walking in the city center looking for cult places, it is worth visiting here, because you will come across an amazing number of high-quality and attractive things here, which are all Hungarian and we can be really proud of this view.
